No spoilers: but there is NO REASON for NBC to not show the events live on the weekend! People are off work! What's the point?

The event is long over. They could have showed it 2 hours ago, and when it actually happened!!

This is a horrible decision. What are people supposed to do; you cannot hide from the news. It is everywhere.

The world does not work this way, and it hasn't for YEARS now. Do you think CCN is saying: "Hey, there's a world war going on, it just erupted. Stay tuned for prime time when we'll actually report on it.".

Ā

The world does not work this way anymore. You can't turn the TV on, because every other station is telling you what is happening NOW. Ludicrous.

They used to do this with the Academy Awards. Now they are broadcast LIVE, even if Alaska for crying out loud. And, of course, everyone used to follow along before the West Coast Broadcast. It was a serious problem. They woke up to the way the world works TODAY.

Personally, I love the Olympic Games. I hold them close to my heart. They are symbolic. The story telling that goes on is special, and it makes watching the games an extraordinary experience. NBC continues to make a tragic mistake not showing the events live. Kids will NOT grow up with the same kind of reverence for this event. Kids go online. Kids that are interested will go on the computer, see who won today's final event, while they're watching the heats on a 12 hour delay.

It's beyond dumb.

I totally agree - I kept waiting for NBC to have a pay deal for online coverage like CBS did with the NCAA basketball tourney in March JDolphin Jul 28, 14:20

They don't want their prime time to be filled with non-prime time events. It shows how backwards in thinking the network executives are. elchan Jul 28, 14:49

I wanted to watch cycling so bad, but no such luck... (SPOILERS) slappydavid Jul 28, 15:58

But all you need is a DVR or equivalent....I recorded NBC and started watching about 3 hours late. I could fast forward Buy BONDS 19 Jul 28, 22:39

It wasn't televised in my country, even if it was previously announced... {nm} slappydavid Jul 29, 05:47

I posted elsewhere, but here we go again. If they only show events LIVE, there would be nothing but interviews in Prime Time. London is Buy BONDS 19 Jul 28, 22:48

I don't think UK audience would watch non-live sport (apart from highlights) {nm} Rednax Jul 29, 04:49

Also BBC isn't ad-funded so has no need to maximize audience by delaying to prime time {nm} Rednax Jul 29, 04:50

They're not gonna spoil it? What a joke. It's the real world, not the NBC world. Events happened 9 hours earlier on the west coast. goodvibe61 Jul 30, 08:12

Also: How exactly is it spoiling anything for Prime Time if they showed the event live at 11:00 AM? goodvibe61 Jul 30, 08:15

Not Going To Happen. They paid 1.8 Billion for rights years ago. They need prime time ad money. wroberson Jul 30, 22:12
