All of this sooooo violates the Temporal Prime Directive.....
However, in the "reality" of the Loopers, the second BWILL, who has the hood on is "real" JGORD gets the gold and lives out his life. If this never happens, he is still a looper and the 30 year clock never starts.
However, as he ages, he decides that he does not want his loop closed and tries to change history. He goes back early, without the hood on, and tries to kill the Rainmaker as a child. He fails, and so reality happens and he does go back without the hood. Circular reasoning? But, after all, this is is science fiction.
