Most likely scenario is Smoak is traded
But that mainly depends on Baltimore and if they're willing to give up a draft pick to sign Adam LaRoche. If LaRoche doesn't sign, Smoak could go there (Olney, ESPN).
If that scenario doesn't pan out, they are likely to platoon. Smoak vs lefties, Morales vs righties until a team needs a 1st baseman. Then it would depend on who a team likes more/need and the contract (Morales 4mill vs Smoak at 500k/arb eligible).
For what its worth, Girardi thought Montero had potential behind the plate. But that would probably only be considered if they get more veteran pitching behind King Felix and Iwakuma. Also not likely b/c they got turned down for Capuano and are only rumored to be in on Porcello (with like 5 other teams).
