I started working for Papa Johns Jan. 27 and in late February, things got strange suddenly. Not just at work but at home. At work there was this guy delivering on a scooter near the end of winter. He came walking into the store with his helmet on and had a conversation with me. A month later he was gone for upsetting a manager with racial slurs. I wasn't around to see it. This is just what I heard.
A few days ago, a young manager got another driver fired. He wanted to take 2 deliveries which is perfectly normal under most situations. Lakarian, a young gut who just bought a new used car car stuck under a flooded viaduct on Monday as there was a nasty torrent of rain and every viaduct in Chicago, but one, floods. Prior to that his girl had just bought a new used SUV and he managed to hit the car of the neighboring resturant, a sushi bar, pulling out of a parking spot. The SUV had a scratch the length of the vehicle while the other car had a paint chip on the plastic bumper. He got away with one there.
Yesterday I went in through the back to get a sign for my car. There's this big rasta dude, Mike. He's been there since the store opened 4 years ago. He reminded me of someone, and the name I came up with was S. J. Jackson. He was insulted and started yelling at me. This was like on Feb. 2nd. Since then we kept our distance, but I wasn't completely in the shadow. Now, Mike was by the back door. As I came out I said excuse me and he moved out of the way.
I was followed in by Steve. Steve is a musician and about my age, in the 40's. From what I heard, Steve nudged Mike and Mike started yelling and then began choking Steve. I remember hearing Steve say, I didn't grab you by the neck. So, Steve called the police and a report was made. Of course I was the only witness and was questioned by the police. All I could say was that I saw Mike raise his arm and there were some angry words.
So, in the spirit of strangeness, I am watching Inception. I have had a hard time sleeping this week as I was the only closer on Monday because of the situation mentioned above. It was the same for the scooter guy.
I must be dreaming again...
