I think the media coverage more related to people's reactions to these events.
The Dillon Taylor case did receive some national attention immediately after the shooting - but the officer involved was wearing a body camera (which was later released to the public), protests were low-level, there was an inquiry within a month, it was determined that the officer reasonably believed Taylor to be armed, and the level of protest was relatively small. So as a media story, it went away.
The Michael Brown case had a lot of witnesses with differing accounts, a tone-deaf police response, large-scale protests by a people who felt actively discriminated against because of their race in their own community, and ultimately riots and violence.
So it's no surprise which became the bigger media story. There's no real agenda, other than "what are people interested in talking about? Let's give them that"
