investors/traders cannot trade them.  it happens all the time with biotech stocks, even Apple sometimes halts trading in the stock half an hour before their earnings release.  once the news breaks, market makers judge the supply demand order flow and then can open the stock up or down dramatically.  if you are holding it the wrong way, too bad: investment risk...
