...that the non-parentheses way is quite awkward:

You own 12004 of ZOOKP shares long

The word 'shares' should follow the number (which it currently does not, in most cases)... which is why it should be 'share(s)', and applied to all cases:

You own 1 share(s) of ZOOKP, long

You own 99999 share(s) of ZOOKP, long
