Before anyone says anything about the changes, remember it was only a couple of months ago when Cantor-Fitzgerald reduced the staff to one (1) DMac/Antibody. It saved money. Not huge. Not a Million real dollars a year. But it was a signal that the mother ship might pull the plug.
So now HSX is trying to reinvent itself, with major changes to "game play." If the alternative is pulling the plug, I think that we in the community have to give the new rules a chance. As they told Jonathan E in Rollerball, there is only one rule and that is there are no rules that cannot be changed. So we adjust.
The big issue is the lack of halt on opening day. So what does that really mean. Has anyone reading this felt that .."Damn, I am on the wrong side!" after the halt? This gives everyone more time to read reviews (in Friday newspapers) read comments, even see the movie. If a MovieStock price moves a lot from Friday at 10AM until Sat 10AM, there will be a chance for everyone to adjust to it.
Saturday mornings used to be full of speculation as we waited for the Friday numbers to be posted, and that was usually at 11AM. So now we are getting more acurate projections for the whole weekend earlier. How will that affect MovieStock prices? Well, they will absolutely move towards the adjust. It will give everyone, in every time zone, a chance to see where it is going and change their position. Will individual players actually lose by this? If the "correct" position was long, and you were long, you will make the same profit. The only difference is that you will see some of it on Saturday, rather than at the adjust.
Example MOVIE was 52 on Friday at the old halt time. Saturday morning shows that the weekend looks like it will be 22, for a potential adjust at 59.4 Players holding short will reverse and the stock will rise toward that 59.4. It might even overshoot the mark...OR 22 might
