See, I would think that HSX/Cantor would have learned something with the orange beta migration...

Posted by: secretstalker (a.k.a TheWeekendWarrior) on Nov 25, 03:42 in response to Antibody's post The decision was made with the Announcement. We realize...

They made a very unpopular change and though it lasted for only a week, you literally lost hundreds of regular veteran players who regularly brought a ton of traffic/hits to the boards. Knowing that HSX realized the mistake and were fixing it, I was patient and stuck around for the current version of the site which I've been very happy with.

The way I see it, these newest changes are being geared towards the players who have chose to make their HSX portfolio their life's goal and being that there are very few incentives to play except for bragging rights (which is enough for most of the people I'm referring to), I can honestly say that the chances of me continuing to play beyond year's end is highly doubtful.  I stopped staying up for reset over five years ago because even when it was at 1AM, it was adversely affecting my life (some may remember a time when I was far less mellow than I am now--if you can believe that ) and I had to make the decision to change the way I play that didn't involve staying up so late and getting into better sleep patterns.  These changes are creating an environment where those who stay up late or those who are in the right time zone (i.e. Pacific and European players) have the advantage because the most play will be between midnight and 7AM Eastern during reset and when numbers start being reported (often wrong) by Nikki Finke. Halting stocks at 6pm on Saturday makes absolutely no sense because once everyone switches their position, given at least a 12 hour window to do so, they will just go back to what they normally do on Saturdays. But those of us who might want to sleep in on Saturday will probably wake up to the stock we held wrong losing tons of money (which granted, we would have lost on adjust anyway) while those who are up will be able to take advantage of their time zone and flip their stocks and make a huge amount of money on the inevitable bounce as everyone reverses.

That be as it may, I still think that it's a bad decision, and frankly, I'm not even crazy about the 75k shares thing which has left me with almost no cash and essentially waking up every day to my port being down a million plus due to reset trading.  So I'm happy that HSX thinks they've figured out a way for the game/site to grow... I'm sorry to say that this time, it will not be with me.

Has HSX made a decision on this Saturday halt thing? I.e. have all the complaints against it been heard? {nm} secretstalker Nov 24, 10:28

I'm wondering the same. I'm starting to wonder if they even want to reconsider the issue? {nm} Rolling_Thunder Nov 24, 12:07

The decision was made with the Announcement. We realize there would be traders unhappy with change, but others who would welcome Antibody Nov 24, 13:33

Does HSX feel that the new halt time will greatly benefit them from a business perspective? Perhaps many of us aren't considering that. {nm} Rolling_Thunder Nov 24, 14:50

I'll stop playing if the halt time isn't changed back to sometime on Friday, preferably before 9pm EST. Rolling_Thunder Nov 25, 06:15

I want to join the list of unhappy traders. Please reconsider. Bringing it (back!) to Friday 9 pm EST would be a good compromise IMO. Can Diapason Nov 25, 05:05

The answer to your analogy would be you can trade GM on the day of an earnings call. {nm} Antibody Nov 25, 13:52

I just don't see any real point at halting then or adjusting... you could just have stocks act like CX derivatives secretstalker Nov 25, 14:10

One (important) word missing. The Q was "Can I ...". The response should be "NO". My experience of earnings calls is that they would Diapason Nov 25, 14:53

Because real markets are not open on weekends, period. Real earnings are reported on weekdays where there's also after hours trading. {nm} Antibody Nov 26, 10:02

Yeah those that get it wrong. No skill involved now. {nm} Vashta Nerada Nov 27, 10:17
