my style:
using firefox 3.5, i have some of the unneccessary graphics blocked (like the green nav bar is gone; the headers and dropdown menus are still there, just without the bar, which was one of the slower to load images on the page. also have blocked, not just hidden, the ticker)
one window (not tab) open for my port, one for the advanced trader page, For stocks I dont have, i use the advanced trader, in the amount box, i type, then copy, the word "max", then i type in the symbol, and buy, sell, etc. from the menu. then place the order, then when the next screen comes up, i hit 'make another trade', and then its type in the symbol, paste in "max" and place order, rinse and repeat. I am on dsl (300-400K speed), but the site loads fast for me. (granted i dont have a 1000 stock port, but then making most of my trades from the adv. trader, plus that i dont load my port after every trade, helps)
for stocks i do have, i use the rollover trade button on the right column of each stock.
i dont reshort stocks anymore, which i know is nigh impossible now, but i dont feel need to anyway.
I figured out what works for me, and suggest trying multiple styles to see what works best for you (create a second account to practice on if you dont want to mess up yours)
also, i know some dont want to get firefox, but for me I find it to be more useful on many sites compared to ie.
oh and there is a way to block ads in ie8. try googling 'block ads in ie8', but basically its using the inprivate filtering feature, if you turn it on, then go to advance settings, youll see a button 'import', there is an xml file you'd have to find and download that is a list of all ad serving sites, and when a web page has one of those ads on it, ie blocks anything coming from those ad domains. ((Let me say, though I would never ever ever recommend blocking the ads here on free hsx!!))
i am rambling? probably. I making sense? hopefully!
