The American Astronaut is a musical from writer-director Cory McAbee and the band The Billy Nayer Show. Set in outer space, the rock-n-roll musical follows an interplanetary trader from Nevada named Samuel Curtis. Like a long-haul truck driver, Curtis travels the lonely space ways to remote solar systems pursued by his old friend Professor Hess, who's out to kill him.
The low-tech, but beautifully photographed film will compete in the 2001 Sundance Film Festival.
