Based upon a true story, Aimée & Jaguar recounts the taboo and dangerous love affair between an underground Jewish lesbian and the Nazi married mother of four whom she seduces. The story is set during the Battle of Berlin during World War II, and was adapted from the Erica Fischer novel of the same title.
Max Färberböck’s screenwriting and directorial debut has met with significant critical acclaim. Aimée & Jaguar was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2000 Golden Globes, and both Juliane Köhler (Aimée) and Maria Schrader (Jaguar) won Best Actress awards at the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival and the 1999 German Film Awards.
