An actor who originally wanted to be a rodeo rider, Richard Farnsworth broke into show business when the Marx Brothers were looking for expert horsemen for 1937's A Day at the Races. Farnsworth signed on, starting a long career as an extra, stand-in and stuntman. Now a veteran actor, Farnsworth did not decide to pursue a career as a full-time thespian -- speaking parts and all -- until the mid-1970s. Since then, Farnsworth's schedule has been busy with mostly supporting roles, notably in The Natural, Misery and The Two Jakes. For his role in David Lynch's 1999 film, The Straight Story, Farnsworth received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
