One of Asia's top director, Wong Kar Wai is known for non-linear narratives in his films. He likes to keep his talent in the dark about their roles, preferring to make up the script as he shoots, and letting actors develop their characters during production. Wong started out writing and producing before jumping to directing in the late 1980s. His 1994 cult favorite Chungking Express has influenced a generation of filmmakers. His 2000 international hit In the Mood For Love received a semi-sequel in 2004's 2046.
