First trailer for Young Adult

Paramount has dropped the teaser trailer for the dramedy Young Adult [YADLT] on Apple.   The film reunites Juno director Jason Reitman [JREIT] and its Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.  Charlize Theron [CTHER] stars as a writer of teen novels (hence the bookcover-esque poster) who returns to her small hometown to try to win back her high school sweetheart, played by Patrick Wilson [PWILS], who is now happily married with a newborn.  While we've seen many man-childs on film, her pathetic, self-absorbed character offers a feminine take on the adult in arrested development who refuses to grow up and accept reality.

 

Paramount has released an alternate version online with one different scene near the end:

I had the good fortune to see a preview of this movie in Minneapolis last night. The dialogue was good although timing sometimes lacking. Unfortunately, the story has serious 'third act' problems and 'feel-bad' movie is a fairly apt description.
