Sony has released the first trailer to the action comedy The Other Guys [OTHRG] and it's all over the map. The movie doesn't know what it wants to be. The trailer sets up a pair of top cops played by Samuel L. Jackson [SLJAC] and Dwayne Johnson [TROCK], but then inexplicably drops them to focus on a couple of desk cops played by Will Farrell [WFERR] and Mark Wahlberg [MWAHL]. They are the classic partners who buddy up to fight crime, but don't get along with each other. The duo bumble their way through scenes like actors pretending to be playing cops. Ironically, Wahlberg accuses Ferrell of being a fake cop, and the motion poster for The Other Guys suggests they are indeed just actors on wires. Heck, the motion poster had more charm and laughs than the trailer. Why should we care about The Other Guys, when the trailer suggests there's a better movie about The Guys starring Jackson and Johnson we won't be seeing?
