The 88th Academy Awards ceremony was an awkward, yet illuminating affair as host Chris Rock [CROCK] did not shy away from the lack of diversity controversy.  He called Hollywood racist, and poked fun at #OscarsSoWhite with comedic bits throughout the night.  Still, the show must go on as the stars were trotted out and the golden statues handed out, producing a few surprises along the way.  HSX offered AwardOptions of nominees in the top 8 categories and traders correctly predicted 6 of the...

As Hollywood prepares for its biggest party of the year, three new movies hope to draw the attention of moviegoers. After holding off movies about the Christian God and devil, the profane superhero Deadpool [DEADP] will now take on Gods of Egypt [GOEGP]. Even with a drop-off of more than 50% though, Deadpool should remain atop the weekend box office with about $28 million.

In the same weekend that the Academy Awards must contend with #OscarSoWhite, Summit drops Gods of Egypt led by...

A trio of new films will compete for second place against the record-breaking, rated R superhero Deadpool [DEADP]. After such a staggering opening over a holiday weekend, Deadpool is likely to drop more than 50% to a still massive $62 million.

Christian moviegoers should give Risen [CLAVU] the best chance at the runner-up spot. The PG-13 rated Biblical thriller stars Joseph Fiennes [JFIEN] as a Roman solider investigating the disappearance of Jesus’ body. Sony has had success with...

Universal and Illumination has revealed the teaser trailer for the animated musical Sing [SING] written and directed by Garth Jennings.  Sing bows in theaters on December 21st.

After all the serious suerphero movies about saving the world for the umpteenth time, moviesgoers embraced the irreverent, fourth-wall breaking humor of the R-rated Deadpool [DEADP] in a record-smashing way with an estimated $150.0 million over the 4-day holiday weekend.  Deadpool debuted with $132.1 million over 3-days to set new all-time highs for February, for an R-rated film, and for the studio Fox, which had been reluctant to make the film.  The audience was 62% male and 53% over the...
