The only real sure thing is when something like TWLI or HPOT were/are in play. You know that they will never make their adjust price.
So post adjust, the only logical play is to sell/short them. And they fall and fall and fall. And fall some more.
The sort-of-general-rule-of-thumb used to be that when a movie adjusted on OW, the day-after-adjust it would fall. at least enough for you to get some profits from shorting it that day. Sometimes, a movie would have so many people holding short PRE-adjust, that they all covered their shorts after the adjust, so you could play that and expect a positive post-adjust day.
But reset trading whims and secret-sauce brakes don't make it such a clear-cut case anymore. If you had played LORAX as a short post-adjust, you would have played correctly-ish. Except for the fact that the brakes held it from dropping too far despite massive selling post-reset. And then it rebounded and you would have been caught with your pants around your ankles.
