This fund is not intended to be daytraded. Its management will aspire to arrange a diversified portfolio aimed at steady return rather than relying on large-proportion bets. To emulate some excitement, however, fund management will attempt to play openers and initial offerings (especially if Kevin Bacon, Donald Sutherland, Karen Allen, Thomas Hulce, Tim Matheson, Peter Riegert, or any similar luminary is involved).
After reviewing the Sony-Sony Classics-Samuel Goldwyn portfolio, fund management expects to hold plenty of eligible stocks short.
Although communication at this board would be welcomed, fund management has established an e-mail address -- SonyFundATGmail -- and will try to review that account weekly.
In a just world, we would be handling the fund for Universal, the studio that produced the highest achievement in American cinema, Animal House. That reflexive sentiment was vindicated as we assessed the Sony stable. We will make the best of this situation, however, for our investors. The Sony Fund has had a long tradition of existence to its investors, and we propose to maintain that standard.
Since we won't be getting to hang around the Universal Studios -- if anyone sees Babs, let her know we think about her and invite her to stop by the house sometime.
