You short a moviestock (or starbond or whatever) when you think its price is going to go down. The profit you make is the price you short
less the price when you cover (that is, sell your short)
An example: MOVIE, priced at $100 stars Will Smith. However, Will Smith drops out and I short because I think MOVIE is going to drop in value. MOVIE's price drops immediately to $80. My profit is $100 - $80 = $20 per share
