The explanation for newbs is that every purchase after the halt causes a price movement. So if everyone purchases after the price unhalts,
some traders will buy at close to the IPO price, but the price will rise as a result of these traders, so traders who come in late will buy at a higher price - maybe much higher if everyone waits until after the halt to buy.
Also, keep in mind "chuckage", which is the difference between the price at the time you click "buy" and the price that you actually pay when your purchase is registered in your trade history. There's no "we all bought at 12:01 am, we all pay the same price".
