A quick recap on this week’s performance: At the time of writing we have added around $4.00 a share, at the top of our target range. If you were astute enough to have bought shares at IPO eight weeks ago you would now be sitting on a capital gain of more than 250%. Which begs the question: Why are more people not availing themselves of this money-making opportunity? Considering that if you are reading this you are probably already a Fox Fund investor, I am no doubt preaching to the converted. I think the reality is that the majority of HSX players, that is those that don’t read the forums or take the opportunity to learn the dynamics of the game, don’t really care enough to make (fake) money.
So for those of us whose raison d’etre is maximising our returns let’s review the week ahead:
We have been fully invested in ‘The Peanuts Movie’ (PENUT) for a while now and are finally reaping the rewards with its release today. I anticipate holding the stock until after the adjust but a final decision will be made after Friday’s numbers are in.
We are also ‘all in’ on ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ (PAND3) which will be released in January 2016 and again is a long-term hold. The third of our animation triumvirate* is ‘Ice Age 5: Collision Course' (ICEA5) which will be released in July 2016, in which we currently hold 40,000 shares and we will add to this as finances allow. The reason I mention these investments is because they constitute a significant proportion of our available funds which means that we will have to be creative through the coming days.
Today also sees the IPO of the latest Amy Schumer vehicle ‘Mother/Daughter’ (MTDTR) which will require careful attention over the coming days to maximise profits. Whereas I usually try to take a dispassionate view about investments, concentrating solely on the bottom line, I have to admit a soft spot for all things Amy.
We also have another small IPO next Tuesday, The Clan aka El Clan (TCLAN), which should make us a few cents but I don’t see it as being anything to write home about.
So aside from the expected Peanuts bump and Amy’s IPO the main focus will be on riding the news driven wave of projects in development and keeping a weather eye out for ‘Brooklyn’ (BKLYN) which opened in five theaters on Wednesday.
* No I haven’t forgotten about ALVN4.
