Massive Sell-Off. Why?

Can someone explain why there's suddenly, out of the blue, a massive sell-off of stocks.  Small increments.  No glaring individual stock.  But just a broad general sell.

Is this the product of player's actions?  

The HSX algorithm adjustment?

I fully understand that the PETS2 IPO is today, but people are seriously selling everything to make purchase an expensive stock that's two years out from release?
