I Am Cuba [1964] & Memories of Underdevelopment [1968]

Essential viewings regarding the criteria would be I Am Cuba [1964] directed by Mikhail Kalatozov a Russian funded propoganda film for the sake of the Cuban revolution. Scorsese himself said that had he seen that film before he had become a director it would have changed his carear, so expect brilliant cinematography and no less. Another film I would recomend is Memories of Underdevelopment [1968] directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. This was of course a film made in cuba which revolves around the revolution and the cuban missile crisis which was going on at about the same time as production. The film has radical editing reminiscent of the nouvelle vague, and remains one of the great pieces of cinema. Both are rare films but you can pick them up from amazon.com if your interested. Enjoy!

Btw, perhaps I layed the ground for some misunderstandings. By "ongoing revolution", I meant to separate it from Cuban revolutions prior to Facto Jun 22, 21:03
