[1SHOT] One Shot: Anyone think Tom Cruise can pull off Jack Reacher?
I really hope so, I'm a huge fan of the books and I'd like to see it turn into a big screen franchise. I know Lee Child had said in the past that he liked Hugh Jackman for the role and thought he had the necessary physicality. So, I don't think the author was ever thinking it absolutely had to be a huge guy. And in his Mission Impossible days I was definitely a fan of Tom Cruise as an actioner. But lately, I think Cruise's off-screen antics have gotten distracting. One Shot wasn't the first or even the best book in the series, but I can see how it would be one of the easiest and cheapest to make. I'll definitely be going out to see it regardless. I had no concerns at all about Jackman pulling it off, I mean rough loner types are kind of his bread and butter: Wolverine, Australia, Van Helsing. A lot of people have been saying Chris Hemsworth coming off of Thor. I agree he has the right size and hair color but I don't see him as having the acting chops. Probably most importantly, Hemsworth's face and eyes just lack the world weariness I see as necessary to really nail the Jack Reacher role. I think Tom Cruise definitely has the chops if not the size. The material is plenty strong enough to have a hit, I just hope controversial casting choices don't keep people from giving it a chance. Anyway, thoughts?
