prices vs. budgets
What's up with the tendency for some highly budgeted films to have low prices? For example, "pacific rim" and "noah" are both $150 million+ films that will probably make summer debuts, yet both are priced below $100. These are very very sure bets (John Carter notwithstanding). Others, like Dark Knight Rising are already priced sky high years before. Is it do with perceived risk, or just lack of awareness due to the extended time before release?
