Breakout hits like HGAME or AVNGR basically take the old record and top it by about one-third of the previous total. The May record was around 150, AVNGR did 100. The March record was under 120, and HGAME did 150. They're monster hits, and they basically increased the old record by about 30%.
I think HOBIT can break the record.But 78 breaks the record. If it's a monster hit on the HGAME or AVNGR scale, that gets it to $100 or so opening weekend. (77 * 1.3 = 100.1)
When people talk about it hitting 140, they're talking it doing 180% of the business AVATR did three years ago. That's beyond optimism. And even 120 means doing more well over 150% of AVATR. That will take more than good weather, too.
