I just wrote it off as reset/day trading. When there is no news but big movement, it starts with reset traders picking the stock...
and then, as the day moves on, the day traders may keep it moving in that direction. Then, once it get's closer to the next reset, you'll notice that most of the time, the reset and day traders will flip on the stock and then hope to make more $ on it going the opposite direction. The end result usually is that the mystery stock will end up right around where it started.
Personally, I tend to avoid these unless there is at least some news attached. It's really easy to miss the flip when it happens and being a few hours late can eat o]up the profits or even turn into a loss.
