it was a website...

You started with a basic two screen theater and a limited set amount of money.

With that money you had to book movies to play on your screens, but just like real life you had to book ahead of time and when you booked ahead of time you also had to book for what period of time.

When real life box office was reported on Monday afternoons your theater would gain a profit of the PTA (per theater average) for that weekend.

Once you made enough money you could build additional screens, or buy improvements for your theater that each one would give you a small bump in box office (+5% for putting in an ATM; +5% for putting in stadium seating; lights in the parking lot; lighted marquee; etc).

Each theater was limited to how many screens it could have so if you wanted to expand more you would have to save up big bucks to build a second theater and then upgrade it until you could afford to build another theater, etc...

The earlier you booked a movie the less amount is cost and if you booked it for multiple weeks the cost went down.  The price for booking would increase as the movie got closer to getting released.

-JPV- booked Spectre a month ago for his theater and paid $500 for it.  RH booked Spolight a month ago and paid $50 for it.

Spectre made $70.4 mill from 3,929 theaters for a PTA/profit of $4,247

Spolight made $295k from 3 theaters for a PTA/profit of $17,877

-JPV- made ($4,247 PTA - $500 booking fee) $3,747

RH made ($17,877 PTA - $50 booking fee) $17,827

It was fun as your revenue was based on real life box office results. ~JPV~ Nov 10, 16:48

limiteds usually have higher PTAs and that was the secret to raking in the big bucks {nm} RazorHawk Nov 10, 16:52

HSX Orange took 1 week to switch over... only was played one week... then was dumped and took two weeks to revert back {nm} RazorHawk Nov 10, 19:15
