Gitesh from BOG says that Alice broke Avatar's IMAX opening record with $11.9 million avg $63,197 (!!!!!) secretstalker Mar 07, 09:55

great, now everything's going to be 3D :( infalliblesuperstar Mar 07, 10:08

It's already happening... and there'll be a bunch of flops before studio realize that it's the content, not the 3D, bringing people in. {nm} secretstalker Mar 07, 10:12

I'm wondering about the financing of it. Will they shoot in 2d and convert to 3d? or will they go straight for shooting in 3d? {nm} Wolfythunder Mar 07, 10:16

I haven't heard anything about Green Lantern actually shooting in 3D but Sucker Punch has wrapped so that's gotta be conversion. secretstalker Mar 07, 10:21

Seems like Avatar will be a tough act to follow for a while. Then again, it helps when you have a mega budget. {nm} Wolfythunder Mar 07, 10:30

There is no question in my mind that Alice was greatly helped by the success of Avatar. secretstalker Mar 07, 10:33

Until 2012 it will be mostly post for big budget live action. {nm} notfabio Mar 07, 11:51

The question is how long will it take for audiences to realize that content matters? My bet is that some pretty bad movies will make.. Phatcat Mar 07, 10:20

definitely. the reason I went long on Alice is... it's Alice. 3D is a footnote. {nm} infalliblesuperstar Mar 07, 10:32

amen, SS! {nm} tealfan Mar 07, 10:44

I dont see a bunch of flops on the horizon, if Despicable Me doesnt work, it will probably be the title over anything else for example {nm} notfabio Mar 07, 11:40

ALCNW owes it's success to Avatar. It made so many more people aware of how great the Imax experience can be. That said don't be fooled into tonyj1 Mar 07, 10:33
