Movies

I hear you. For this particular film, alot of key symbols, images, sound queues, i imagine them being much harder to decipher on TV.

Posted by: goodvibe61 on Jan 16, 10:31 in response to Buckee's post I'd rather watch ANY movie on a TV in my comfy home...

There are all these wide panning shots, sometimes with the camera panning left or right, with images at the forefront, while other important images, especially the passing of planes overhead, or the sound queues of things going on in the background of the image, I just thought that the movie would be so much less of an experience on a TV or computer screen.

It reminded me of when i walked out of The Favourite. My wife said, I"m probably going to dissect the hell out of this once i have the DVD, but there is no way it could be nearly as fun watching this on our big screen as watching this in the theater. The sound mix, the lavish and intricate production design, the wide angle paranoid lensing, the whole Alice in Wonderland deal, very impressive, i only wished i could've seen the Favourite in IMAX.

Netflix spending $20 million or more on ROMA's awards campaign. Antibody Jan 15, 14:53

Yep. {nm} notfabio Jan 15, 15:21

should have spent it on putting it into more theaters {nm} professor zovek Jan 15, 15:12

A Best Picture win is worth so much more to them than $20m. Wouldn't be surprised if it balloons to $100m post-nomination. {nm} doitdoitdoitnow Jan 15, 17:54

If 100 votes can secure several nominations, bribes are indicated as an effective campaign method {nm} DTXbro Jan 15, 18:15

I still simply cannot imagine why anybody would want to watch Roma on a computer screen, or a television. Have fun with that. goodvibe61 Jan 15, 21:28

Sometimes it's better than spend money in a theater with a bunch of ass** on their phones the whole time. FabioParme Jan 16, 03:07

I rarely see a phone past previews. What part of the country are you in? {nm} PhoneHome Jan 16, 04:53

Same continent (Americas), different country FabioParme Jan 16, 05:27

its a significant issue w/ a large enough customer base that a theater chain can make it a way to differentiate itself from its competitors {nm} Moviesnob Jan 16, 08:45

I'd rather watch ANY movie on a TV in my comfy home rather than put up with people doing the 100 annoying things they do in theaters. {nm} Buckee Jan 16, 09:48

So true. Going to the movies has become a painful experience. It's no longer fun. FabioParme Jan 16, 09:58
