This was something fandom was b*tching about last year (for Airbender) when it was announced but it's calmed down.
And for Persia, it was even longer ago because they started filming it in the summer of '08... LATimes are jumping on this bandwagon late after the fanbase who were so against the idea of Gyllenhaal's casting or that of Airbender have mostly moved onto other things. Bringing it up again is just them trying to cause trouble... but they're late to the bandwagon.
