They did have script issues, but unclear if that was trying to cram Darth Vader in or not kind of issues or something more substantial. There weren't any rumors about Darth Vader back when it was a film project.  Will probably mostly amount to feeling like there's a lot of padding considering how quickly they turned it from a feature to streaming TV project.
