pound for pound its one of the best theaters in the country in terms of $ per seat. The Alamo Brooklyn does more but Lamar is #2
its changed a lot since it was a 6 screen (its now a 10 screen) and the old alamo charm is kinda gone (the corporate office used to run out of Lamar) but its where Fantastic Fest is and every year and where BNAT was every year (until that moved to the ritz due to, well, odor issues) and pretty much every famous Alamo moment (Nimoy surprising a WRATH OF KAHN screening with the new JJ Abhrams STAR TREK, Nick Cage showing up at the annual Caged Marathon out of nowhere. reading Edgar Allen Poe and then staying and watching all four of his movies, etc). I'm not even sure if its my favorite Alamo anymore (the alamo mission in SF is beautiful) but if you are a movie you want to be playing at Lamar.
