We've had a few deaths this year (there's a pre-TT classic called the Southern 100, and someone died there the week before). 

Maria Costello (the rider who is paralyzed) should make a recovery. The riders here are a different breed of human, nothing matters to them except the race, and I suspect the movie will reflect that.
