There were a lot of people who tried to either short or sell SLJAC during the period the site was down.

When all of those orders went through, the price bottomed out disproportionately because suddenly there were a slew of orders based upon SLJAC's adjust price and those orders thereby drove the price down. Typically, a lot of traders would have executed those trades after adjust but before the stock started moving again. Due to the earlier exchange issue, that did not happen this week.
