In the current Spider-Man cartoon, Spider-Man has been recruited to join SHIELD to be trained as the next generation of superhero.  Phil Coulson is sent on undercover assignment as acting principal of Peter Parker's high school to cover for Peter when needed (and for the other teenage SHIELD trainees - Luke Cage, Iron Fist, White Tiger and Nova).
