When posting news:

1) Check to see if the news has already been posted on the boards (usually look at the last two boards)

2) Check to see if the news has already been tagged on the moviestock or starbond page- if it is a rehash of a previously tagged or posted news item, then it isn't necessary to post it. Multiple news sources aren't necessary, unless they are bringing new information to the table.

3) Check to see if the news is from a reputable source, and if you aren't sure, ask in the subject header if someone can confirm if the source is reputable (you will get a feel for which sources are good by seeing which ones are posted on a regular basis, like Variety, THR, LAT, BOM)

4) Check to see that the news is timely and new...posting something from 2 months ago is not good, and usually frowned upon as possible manipulation. Something from a week ago is ok, something from a day ago is fine.

5) Put the source in the subject line, and if possible, copy and paste that source's article title in the subject, replacing or using the related ticker symbol in brackets. Put a link to the source article in the body of the post, using the "link" method native to these boards.

6) If relevant, copy and paste or summarize salient information inside the body of the post, but it isn't necssary to copy and paste the entire article therein...it is I guess a courtesy to allow readers to click through to the source article so that they get the pagehits.

7) Generally, only use the ticker tags when the news actually affects the movie or the star...if a director or writer is attached to a movie, or an actor sign on to a movie, that should be tagged. A movie getting a green light is good news. A movie getting shelved or put in turnaround is good news. Well, not for the movie, but for the sake of the game. Dow53, your tagging of the Mary Parent news for PACRM is borderline judgement call IMO...the movie is already moving along in preproduction with a release date, a director, and stars attached- her invovlement doesn't really advance the project any further. In such a case, you can post the news, but I would not Tag it. I would simply use the ticker symbol without the brackets.

8) Do not tag stocks and bonds when just talking about opinion or asking questions about a movie. You can use the symbol, just don't bracket it. This prevents the stock or bond's page from becoming cluttered with non-news posts when people are trying to do research, or even pushing actual news off the bottom of that page.
