If you want to help people, go through the normal channels. Theere are lots of legitimate registered charities that can help people in general.
I can be walking down the street in Brooklyn and I get stopped and asked for meney because I am one of the few white guys walking by. Why me? Well, why you?
She or he hit you for money because they could. Have you spoken to her on the TELEPHONE?????? (although that is not always the answer) but that is a better way than internet. How about SKYPE? If she has a computer to contact you in the first place, she may not be quite that destitute.
Bottom line....cut the cord.
