I am! Stephen Hawking owes me a C-Note now.

Did he say the Higgs Boson did not exist? Personally, I don't think it's a big deal.

I'm afraid I'll have to wait for the next season of The Big Bang Theory for Sheldon to explain HB to Penny before I understand it.

heh heh, same ... I tried to read a BBC 'explaining the HB' article and my mind wandered after a paragraph

Here's a couple of videos that explain it pretty well.

The model only theorized it. Now they have empirical proof. That's how science work and our collective knowledge advances.

Kinda backwards from the days of Einstein, when they did gather a lot of empirical results, and he created the theories for them.

No, it's always been the same process.

Right, Einstein traveled at the speed of light.... then he wrote about it

That's my point. Before Einstein, people were doing experiments, and then coming up with theories to explain the results.

It both. Theories are supposed to both explain the results of previous experiments and predict the outcome of future experiments.

They haven't discovered the HB, just a new particle with a mass (energy) that is around what is predicted of the HB. Still need to verify

I believe then got the same results more than once now.
