Tanker, you missed the point. (I admit, I drenched it in sarcasm and didn't spell it out. More inside...)
This incident, like all "gotcha journalism" is just another example of cherry picking what one side or the other wants to hear to reinforce their own beliefs about the other side. It is not representational of the entire group that is being painted with that brush and you know it.
Just like the the idiotic Republican delagates that threw the peanuts and made their stupid comments, no one believes that all Republicans think and behave that way.
It makes for a great sound bite and "Look at how awful those people are - glad WE'RE not like that!" speeches, but in the end it's counterproductive nothing more than an eyeball, earball, and advertising revenue grab.
If you think this incident is worth crowing about, call the Secret Service yourself and turn them in. You'd have done your duty and can sleep with a clear conscience knowing you did your part. But don't run rampant through the Interwebs crowing about how Dems (as a whole) think it's OK to threaten Romney's life, because you know that's not true.
