This may be my liberal bias, but...
It helps to look at the two discussions side by side.
Here are some quotes from the original post:
"Islam is not a religion of peace"
"Allah is not and never will be a god of love"
"Muslims hate the Christian God and want nothing to do with Him"
"Those Muslims who kill are not extremists, they are simply adhering to what the Quran tells them to do"
So, Muslims are not interested in peace or love, they hate Christianity and those Muslims who kill are not particularly extreme. None of these things are true and they all vilify Islam, but several posters seemed to think it was all completely reasonable and there was nothing to be offended about.
Then we have "Left Behind reboot - Nicolas Cage has hit bottom". To me, this was saying that a former A+ movie star who had won an Oscar and used to take home a $20M paycheck for a film is now taking over a role from Kirk Cameron in a movie expected to be crappy.
But some people - including people who thought the earlier quotes were nothing to get upset about - found this offensive, and confirmation of a liberal, anti-Christian bias. Even though nothing was said about Christianity.
To me, the difference is clear. The first is a statement that Islam's core values are not peace and love, but hate and violence. The second is a dismissive comment about a movie that happened to be Christain-themed, but could just as easily be made about an Uwe Boll movie.
Anyone who is both cool with the first set of statements and offended by the second should think again about where the bias is. And if they're still not sure, they should go check Matthew 7:3.
Seriously, you could re-caption that cartoon with appropriate quotes from those two threads, and it would be a lot more accurate than the original.
