Definitely bittersweet when the GoT finale happens. I did like the ep but it does suck to wait a year for more. (spoilers inside)
I actually think it was the best finale to date (but not the best episode, not sure they'll ever beat the Red Wedding ep). I liked what they did show of Dany even though I'm mostly bored with her character at this point (and will be for a while) but I did think they put together an impact moment. I suspect most folks with kids (or even pets for that matter) felt the heartstrings pulling there. Yep, Bran is still boring. He may get better later but for the forseeable future (ie. until new books come out), he's just gonna be a bore. Was bummed (and surprised) to see JoJen die. I really liked the character (and the actor) and did not see that coming. I also thought the Brienne/Arya meeting was a nice addition. Of all the characters, I think she is the one that has benefitted the most by the casting as I actually do like seeing her on screen (wheras I groan when I get to a PoV chapter of hers in the books).
I anticipate a slower and less excellent season next year just due to the source material being soft in Book 4. However, I thought the same about this season before it started and was happliy surprised that it didn't suffer at all. Hopefully Season 5 will be able to boast the same!
