Yeah the space stuff is just too much to really be call of duty, but personally I think there's a bandwagon effect involved as well
People are hating on it for fun at this point, see who can come up with the best joke about it (comments like "CoD went to space to die in silence").
But CoD started out as a WW2 game and at this point they've had 3 full on futuristic games and this is the 4th. The community is getting tired of it, or at least my impression is the people who take it more seriously are. Battlefield just unveiled a world war 1 game and it's getting the complete opposite reaction, over a million likes and more views in half the time as the CoD trailer despite being a less popular franchise
