There were a total of 30 competitors in the qualifying event. CTV didn't show the first run of the Snowboard the were showing live the  medals round of The Super Combined that ended just as the second run was starting so the just switched over to it. They showed everybody but 2 athletes.

Since the DVR has 2 tuners I  just paused and swapped between the 2 avents, scroling through the commercials  and other crap and believe me NBC was full of filler so it wasn't that hard to keep current watching the twop events even with rewinding to do my own highlights. But mainly I like the positioning of the NBC cameras to the CTV cameras I could see the amplitude  alot better on NBC. Since both were showing it live when NBC when to filler I'd scrole through and hit pause when I got to the event again. Switch to CTV to watch allthe competitors  I was missing on NBC when they sinced up again I'd watch NBC again.

So that's why I decided to keep watching NBC on the other channel instead of flipping to see what else was going on concurrent to the event. As you can see in the first run they didn't even show half the competitors, but they had plenty of time for ads (well they do have to get there money back) and did a couple of  2 minute long clips on Clark and Hanna, a news update, and go to the talking head. In the second run they showed the clark peice again on top of ads and talking heads but they did add 3 competitors but they stopped showing  competitors after they reached the 23 in the order.

Dear NBC there are more then just Americans competing. I'm pretty sure that most Americans will tune in to see the best in the world even if they aren't American. Second you can put the filler between the events not during it.

So basically if I could have shifted channels to watch events, sticking with CTV would have shown me a medel event live and almost  the intire second run of snowboarding compared to seeing barely half the snowboarders on NBC  in the same time frame.

And the total fixation on just a few athletes to the exclusion of even other American athletes. There are more downhill skiers then just Lindsey Vonn. :)
