You're confusing accounting with computer programming. As I alluded to earlier, these double buys have happened, rarely, in the past. There is a tiny bug somewhere, an issue of timing, I suspect. Anyway, cash was used when the extra buy was made. The loss occurred when the system "fixed" itself. The errant entry was detected and removed, with no regard for returning the invested money to my cash reserve. This would appear to be someone's intentional,programming... I imagine a system integrity sweeper, coded years ago. It may have worked fine at one point, but some other change occurred along the way that has left its actions incomplete.
