Oscar-nominated director Alan Parker has a series of acclaimed projects under his belt. London-born Parker was actually a celebrated advertising copywriter before he took up films and is a founding member of the Director's Guild of Britain. His directing career started in the late seventies and is known for such classics as 1982's Pink Floyd The Wall, 1988's Mississippi Burning (for which he received an Oscar nomination), and 1996's Evita. After 1999's Angela's Ashes, which he also wrote, Parker directed the Kevin Spacey starrer The Life of David Gale.
