Based on the autobiography of Kuki Gallman, I Dreamed of Africa stars Kim Basinger as a woman who leaves a her home and ventures into the wilds of Africa with her son and her new husband. lthough the stark beauty of Kenya at first conveys a sense of freedom, Gallman soon discovers that nature in its most uninhibited state can create a number of setbacks. I Dreamed of Africa also stars Liam Aiken as Gallman's son and Vincent Perez as Gallman's husband. The film is directed by Hugh Hudson, who received an Oscar nomination in 1982 for Chariots of Fire.
