Christine Fugate's documentary The Girl Next Door takes an intimate glimpse into the life of Tulsa housewife Stacy Baker and her journey to becoming Stacy Valentine, adult film star. An acclaimed filmmaker for PBS, Fugate explores the world of pornography through the eyes of a woman who left behind the anguish of an abusive marriage to the porn industry spotlight where she has appeared in more than 65 adult films. Stacy was recognized as 'Best American Starlet" at last year's Hot D'Or Awards at the Cannes film festival and is one of a select few actresses to sign an exclusive contract with a major adult film studio.
Christine Fugate teamed with Eren McGinnis (producer) to form Café Sisters Productions in 1991 and debuted The Southern Sex on PBS as their first project. The film earned many awards including the Director's Choice at the Atlanta Film Festival. Fugate followed 'Sex' with Mother Love and then Tobacco Blues in 1998. The Girl Next Door is a both startling and tender as it examines a woman's personal evolution from one life extreme to another. It's a classic story of the country girl moving to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to become a star, and that's exactly what Stacy Valentine has become - a star.
