A film that made its premiere at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival, Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai features Forest Whitaker in the title role, as a hit man who lives by an ancient Japanese code. Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, the film brought the director a Golden Palm nomination, his first since Coffee and Cigarettes III bowed at the festival in 1993. Co-starring alongside Whitaker are John Tormey, Cliff Gorman, Henry Silva and Isaach De Bankolé.
